YOU FORGOT TO ASK...
Here’s a riddle:
If God knows everything we need, why does He still insist that we seek Him?
Reading the Bible can be frustrating. Sometimes it seems as though God enjoys giving us riddles with very few clues, but it’s quite the opposite! He always provides answers, and He shares the secret to getting even MORE: Spend time with Him!
There are clues scattered throughout Matthew 6 meant to help solve our peculiar riddle... “Seek me, I already know what you need” (vs. 32-33). You may be wondering, What am I to seek God for? If God knows everything I need, why doesn’t He just give it to me? He tells us to seek Him because we only know PART OF WHAT TO ASK.
Truth is, we don't think of everything. When you plan to buy a car you may say, "I want a car," but what you're really saying is, "I want a car and I'm ready to pay for insurance, weekly gas, unexpected mechanical issues, oil changes, new tires, etc." Still want one? Sometimes we jump into things but forget what they come with. Relationships mean compromise. Success means sacrifice. Pets mean frequent pet store visits.
When I used to pray for my husband years ago, I was so focused on physical appearance and capabilities that "I Forgot to Ask" for a man that prays, amongst other important things. It was only after spending time with God that I realized they were missing from the list! When we pray, we have got to stop focusing on the "the earthly things," and start SEEKING Him for what our requests SHOULD come with!
God knows all that you are in need of. DO YOU? He longs to be your full time consultant. He wants to give wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to go with each blessing, but we must ask!
So... Has your list been cosigned by God lately?
Today I challenge you! Each day this week, (1.) Thank God for knowing all that you need. (2.) Be intentional about seeking Him. Read His Word, ask questions, and listen. (3.) Then, ask Him to reveal all that's missing from your prayer list. When it comes, pray and wait! God cares about every request you make and wants you to receive and sustain each one of them. "Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 34:7

(“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?... But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you as well. Matt 6:25, 33 NIV)
