It's the Small Cracks
Have you been waiting on God to to reveal your purpose to you loud and clear? Inspired by Psalm 103:21, I prayed, “I want to walk in your will and serve you today." When I did, what God hinted to me took me by surprise. He said "You don't have to wait for new direction, a fresh Word, or a Big Bang idea to do My will, serve Me, and do things My way. Instead, read my Word, find something that you need to improve, and work on THAT thing, but this time, do it MY way."
This may sound obvious, but it's the little things that we forget to do sometimes. So often, we focus on patching up the BIG HOLES in our walk with Christ that we forget to take care of the SMALL CRACKS. We don't have to wait for the grandiose thing to serve Him. Trust me, the big ideas and revelation will come in due time, in the meantime, take some initiative.
There are so many places you can start! Here are some ideas. Try:
Being patient, forgiving, loving, kind, faithful HIS WAY. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22-23).
Serving others with a gentle answer. It defuses arguments and mends broken relationships. "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." (Proverbs 15:1).
Doing everything with excellence and diligence. "Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank." (Proverbs 22:29). "The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty." (Proverbs 21:5)
If you're single, all of these practices will help you be a better you, or prepare you for a successful marriage. If you're married, it'll strengthen it. My goal is to start ensuring that my words are gentle and reflect meekness when I'm not in the wrong. While you wait on God to reveal His will for the big areas in your life what will you do… right now?
Ultimately, Having OUR character reflect HIS heart is what He truly wants for our lives. Our Father will exceed our imagination when He reveals His great plans for us but that’s not His only priority. Remember, a little tug boat is just as important as a big ship. When a big ship does not function properly, it’s the tug boat that brings it back to shore for repairs.
Today I encourage you to take a moment to think about one area you know is not a reflection of God’s will for you. Then dive into His Word, especially Proverbs (proverbs=wisdom). There, you'll discover how you can better serve Him in that area. It is God’s will that our character mirrors the beauty of our blessings. So become intentional about revamping your ways so you can be more fulfilled and He can be glorified. “Bless the Lord, all you His hosts, You who serve Him, doing His will.” Psalm 103:21
He thinks of everything.
Sweetly Smitten,
Michelle Nicole
